Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that movement can support more than just physical fitness. At Tempo 301, our approach to Reformer Pilates, Strength, Barre, Yoga and Recovery classes is designed to help you build routine, focus and long-term consistency through controlled, music-led movement.
Across our London studios in E1, E8 and SE17, students often tell us that class becomes part of their weekly reset. A chance to switch off from screens, focus on movement and leave feeling clearer, stronger and more grounded. We believe consistent movement, structured routines and time set aside for yourself can make a real difference over time, both mentally and physically.
Ready to experience the difference? Try our 3-class intro offer for Reformer Pilates or Tempo Signature Classes, perfect for new students.
Movement That Grounds You
Joseph Pilates believed “physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” His method emphasised breathing, control, and precision, which are still at the heart of every Tempo Pilates class. Our approach focuses on helping you feel grounded in your body, with controlled movements that require mental focus as much as physical strength. Here’s how our classes help you ground both body and mind:
- This focus in movement helps quiet racing thoughts and bring mental clarity
- Each class becomes an opportunity to tune into your body and tune out distractions.
- The small group setting creates a supportive, personal space where you can concentrate fully.
This grounding approach extends into our Tempo Signature offerings. Whether flowing through yoga, focusing on strength, refining alignment in Mat Pilates or building core control in Tempo Barre, each class is designed to support your overall well-being.
“Chiara is a fantastic teacher! So thorough, right level of challenge, resistance, balance, variety of exercises, precise, clear and easy to follow instructions, no ordinary and no boring class. I left full of endorphins, happy, with a sense of victory over my own limitations. I have tried Tempo’s Intro offer and signed up for more. I really fell in love with this studio and Reformer Pilates. I see the results in my fitness and mental well-being already.”
Mental Health Awareness at Tempo
Tempo 301 is known for its results-driven method and sustainable approach to fitness, but students often tell us it’s the mental reset they rely on most.
- The structure of our classes helps create rhythm and routine.
- Concentrating on form and breath can ease anxiety and increase clarity.
- Music-led sequences provide a feel-good tempo to shift your mood and boost motivation.
Many of our regulars describe their weekly classes as their “non-negotiable hour” for themselves – an essential part of their mental wellness toolkit. If your current workout feels like something to tick off a list, it might be time to experience something different.
Why Routine Matters for Mental Well-being
One of the most valuable parts of regular exercise is consistency. Building movement into your weekly routine can help create structure, improve focus and support stress management over time.
This is one of the reasons we recently introduced Tempo 301 memberships across E1, E8 and SE17. With 4 or 8 classes per month, memberships are designed to help you stay consistent with your training while still giving you flexibility across Reformer Pilates, Tempo Signature and Tempo Recovery classes.
Set to Music, Designed for Focus
Music isn’t just background noise. At Tempo 301, every playlist is tailored to support focus and flow. You’ll move in time with a carefully selected beat, helping you stay present and energised. Each month brings a new playlist, created to keep your mind engaged and your motivation high.
- Music improves concentration and endurance.
- Rhythmic beats encourage flow state, helping you stay in the moment.
- The tempo creates a link between breath, movement, and mindset.
More broadly, research shows that music can support mental health awareness by reducing stress, lifting mood, and helping regulate emotion. According to the American Psychiatric Association, music has the power to lower anxiety, reduce depression, and even improve cognitive function.
Whether it’s Tempo Pilates or one of our Signature classes like Tempo Strength or Tempo Sculpt, you’ll feel the power of music-driven movement.
A Personal Experience
Unlike the chaos of a packed gym floor, Tempo 301 offers a personal, boutique experience where your mental well-being is the priority. Our trainers know your name, your goals, and how to support you. That personal connection makes a difference!
- Small class sizes keep the experience intimate.
- Our trainers are trained in the Tempo method to support every student with care and precision.
- The studio aesthetic: clean, calm, and curated, adds to the sense of calm and focus.

“I’m a regular and just needed to leave a note to say that this class was tailor-made to challenge regular L2 class-goers. Unusually, there was a bit of cardio thrown in for good measure, which my body didn’t want but needed. Eternally grateful to Tempo for giving me strength in body and mind. I would disintegrate without it <3 Also, the people here, both trainers and front desk, are so so welcoming and non-judgemental. I look forward to seeing them each week.”
Tempo Recovery at SE17
Alongside Reformer Pilates and Tempo Signature, we also offer Tempo Recovery classes at SE17, including Breathwork, Sound Bath and Yin & Sound Bath. These classes are designed to help students slow down, reset and reconnect through guided movement, breath and sound.
Designed to complement your regular classes or stand on their own, each format focuses on restoring the body, easing tension and calming the nervous system through breath, stillness and guided practices.
Long-Term Sustainability
Mental well-being and overall mental health awareness aren’t built in a day! Which is why consistency matters. At Tempo 301, we focus on sustainable fitness that supports both physical and mental strength over time. Our method is designed to evolve with you, so the more you attend, the more in tune you become with your body and mind. This ongoing connection helps reduce stress, build resilience, and bring a stronger sense of clarity to everyday life.
- Regular attendance helps establish a routine that prioritises mental wellness.
- Progress in your strength and control builds confidence that carries beyond the studio.
- Long-term engagement with movement plays a key role in managing stress and improving mood.
